Kevin Swanson
Kevin SwansonHomeschooled in the 1960’s and 70’s, Kevin Swanson and his wife, Brenda, are now homeschooling their five children. Since graduating from his homeschool and then serving as student body president of a large west coast university, he has gone on to other leadership positions in corporate management, church, and other non-profits. Kevin has 35 years of experience in the homeschooling movement and serves as the Director of Generations with Vision, a ministry he founded to strengthen homeschool families around the country.

As a father who wants to leave a godly heritage for his own five children, Kevin’s passion is to strengthen and encourage the homeschooling movement all over the world, and to cast a vision for generations to come. For the last 4 years Kevin has hosted a daily radio program – Generations Radio – the world’s largest homeschooling and Biblical worldview program that reaches families across the US and in over 80 countries.

Kevin has also served as the Executive Director of Christian Home Educators of Colorado for the last nine years. He has also authored several popular books for homeschoolers, including Upgrade-10 Secrets to the Best Education for Your Child, The Second Mayflower, the Family Bible Study Guide Series, and others. Serving as a passionate supporter of home education, he has been interviewed on hundreds of media outlets, including Dr. James Dobson’s Focus on the Family and the Fox News Network.

Diane Kummer is HSLDA’s High School Coordinator. Diane regularly speaks at homeschool conferences, writes articles and brochures on high school topics, and has a heart to inspire moms in their teaching. “The joy and grace of the Lord are available—and He has provided many avenues of care and help along the way,” she says. She provides personal consultation to HSLDA members and encourages parents to keep going and to enjoy teaching high school!

Marian Soderholm and her husband Erik believe “in offering hope to parents and students.” Her experience in the field of education for over 30 years is vast having received her B.A./English from CSULB, possesses both K-12 Teaching and Learning Disabilities Specialist credentials, completed graduate work at AZUSA Pacific with an MFT in Marital and Family therapy and currently administers educational testing, assists teachers and parents as a curriculum and resource specialist and works as an HSLDA Special Needs Consultant.

Roy Hanson is the director and founder of Family Protection Ministries, which he established in 1986 at the request of homeschool leaders in California. FPM is in its 24th year as the only full-time legislative advocacy organization in Sacramento for all bills affecting private homeschooling and family freedoms in the California Legislature. Jim Davis and Nathan Pierce also serve in FPM as the legislative liaisons in the State Capitol. God has used FPM every year to preserve the freedoms of home-educating parents in California. FPM works closely with CFS, HSLDA and CHEA.

Jim Adams is often recognized as “Pecos Bill” from Disneyland’s world famous “Golden Horseshoe Review”. Today, with a cast of many colorful characters, James presents an inspirational program of encouragement and undeniable witness to Christians and non-Christians alike. The method Jim has chosen is unique to say the very least. Using drama, comedy and ventriloquism he opens the door to people of all ages to the wonders that await them in walking with Christ. James and his dear friend, “The Professor, provide a unique, entertaining and uplifting program which reflects and reinforces living an abundant life in Jesus Christ.

John Wojnicki and his wife Laura co-chair Christian Family Schools. Their personal homeschool journey which began in 1985 is over, as all four children are married and raising families of their own. Even though the Wojnicki’s no longer have children living at home, they are thoroughly enjoying their eight grandchildren. From their experience, they have found homeschooling to be the most conducive option for discipling children, and for this reason they remain involved as leaders of Christian Family Schools.

Dave Johnson
and his wife Susan serve on the Board of Christian Family Schools. They have been married 19 years and have 4 children. They have taught all three of their school age children at home from the beginning. They have a heart for raising up a Godly generation and helping families who are just beginning their homeschool journey.

Mary Tanksley,a mother of eight children and a homeschooling veteran of over 25 years, has graduated six children from 12th grade. Mary brings a wealth of experience, wisdom and help to the homeschool mom teaching, Language Arts and Foreign Language.

Jake & Terri Simpson spent twelve years on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ before beginning Restore the Family Ministries. Their vision is to help build and strengthen families in order that the family unit might be a powerful asset for Christ once again in our communities. The Simpsons have been blessed with twelve children whom they have homeschooled. God has allowed many opportunities for speaking, counseling, one-on-one discipleship, as well as Jake's first book "The Fight To Do What's Right". Jake & Terri are currently working on a book entitled, "Walls and Gates Around Families." They have served on the CFS board for five years.

Free Friday Night Introduction to Homeschooling Session and Special Expo Offer

This year, we are again offering Friday Night Free to families who have never homeschooled before, who have also not previously attended the CFS Expo, and who will be attending the Free Introduction to Homeschooling Session on Friday evening. This offer begins at 5:00 PM with the Introduction session and is only available to those who make reservations in advance by emailing Expo@cfssd.org. Please use the following subject line in your email message: "Friday Night Free". You will receive a confirmation email back with further instructions on picking up your Friday Night Free pass at the Introduction Session. In addition, those with this pass will be eligible to upgrade their Friday Night Free pass for $25 to return and enjoy the rest of the convention on Saturday. This is a special offer to welcome those new to homeschooling and demonstrate our commitment to promoting private Christian homeschooling in San Diego County. The deadline to register for this FREE offer is April 30th.
